Expanding from last week’s article about Water in Skincare Products, this post is especially about YOU who already and want to commit to Preservative-free products. Let’s screen through a few points below as the base of our facts and reality.
Delicate Storage
If you are into ‘Preservative-free‘ products, use ONLY the pure oil or butter based products. Because it is only those products that can be made without any preservative system. Although over time, oil-based products may go rancid to signal the end of its fresh-life. Having said that though, the storage of this preservative-free product like Body Butter or Balm, it should be handled very well. They should not be placed in the humid area like Bathroom. They cannot be stored where the sunlight could possibly peek them. Also, they cannot be set in the high-temperature places like leaving the product in the car in the Summertime.
Committing to a Limitation
Also, by committing yourself to the Preservative-free products, you will limit yourself to never use any Cream, Toner, Lotion, and other Emulsion types of products, including a Conditioner, to lower the chances of contamination. Honestly, it is almost impossible to commit to Non-Preservative products because you will need to wash your hair and body parts with some sort of Liquid Washes like Shampoo and Body Cleanser, which are also a must-have preservative included products.
Close-minded Cosmetics Consumer
Some of You may confidently say that you are against cosmetics. Thus, proud to not wear any cosmetics ever to keep the ‘true beauty‘. Applying any sort of cosmetics may hurt the ‘natural‘ appearance concept. That was a strong opinion from some people that I personally met and knew from a real life. Simply, they want to be considered as ‘Pure Natural‘. Oh, is it? Let me help to stretch out the fact a little bit more about ‘what is cosmetics‘ in the first place. A “cosmetic” is any substance used to clean, improve or change the complexion, skin, hair, nails or teeth. Cosmetics include beauty preparations (make-up, perfume, skin cream, nail polish) and grooming aids (soap, shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant). That is a chopped-off Cosmetics description from an official Government site, Health Canada.
Now since we know the truth that it is impossible to commit to Preservative-free Cosmetics Products, please accept the fact that avoiding preservative-free products are impossible in the day to day life. Because Water is one of the main ingredients in many cosmetics formulations. Even if Water is not the star ingredient in the product, it will still be contacted with Water during the usage, for an example, the Soaps. Additionally, applying the skin with the preservative-free cosmetics opens the possibility to endanger the general health. So, next time when You declare that you are only using the Preservative-free products and You are proud about that, think again. For once, just be an Open-minded cosmetics consumer.
